Position Title: Research Technician I - In Vivo Pharmacology
Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080
Duration: 2 Years (Possible extension)
Work Schedule: Shifted schedule - up to 3 weekdays and 2 weekend days
Position Summary
The In Vivo Pharmacology group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician I to support the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics, including both small molecules and biologics. This role involves hands-on execution of in vivo pharmacology studies and offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration across multidisciplinary research teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support team members in conducting in vivo pharmacological studies and testing of pharmaceutical agents.
- Perform experimental work with mice, including:
- Animal handling, restraining, shaving, and dosing via various routes (IV, IP, SC, PO).
- Blood and tissue sample collection.
- Data collection such as tumor measurements (via caliper), body weight monitoring, and clinical health observations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of experimental data and communicate findings effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable GLP, FDA, USDA, and institutional regulations.
- Adhere to company standards on safety, ethical conduct, and proper handling of hazardous/biological materials, controlled substances, and animals.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- High school diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working with mice.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accurate record-keeping.
- Enthusiastic and motivated to learn new techniques, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve processes.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred:
- Experience with small animal tumor biology studies.
- Prior IACUC laboratory animal training/experience.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and rodent microsurgery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.
