PCU RN Job Details- Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2025
- End Date: February 1, 2026
- Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour day shifts)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680 - $1800
- Employment Type: Travel RN, W2
- Unit: Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC), 40-bed stepdown unit
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating: May float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units as needed
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for travel nursing jobs)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- At least 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
- Telemetry experience required
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Preferred: Experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patient populations (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
- Preferred: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries, as well as medical cardiology patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Manage chest tubes, epidurals, tube feedings, and IV medications (including cardiac drips: phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR
- Participate in unit-based initiatives to promote patient safety and quality improvement
- Float to other clinical units as needed, maintaining flexibility and professionalism
