PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 2, 2025
• End Date: February 1, 2026
• Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour day shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680 - $1800
• Employment Type: Travel RN, W2
• Unit: Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC), 40-bed stepdown unit
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Floating: May float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units as needed

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for travel nursing jobs)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• At least 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills
• Excellent critical thinking abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Preferred: Experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patient populations (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• Preferred: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) experience

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries, as well as medical cardiology patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Manage chest tubes, epidurals, tube feedings, and IV medications (including cardiac drips: phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to promote patient safety and quality improvement
• Float to other clinical units as needed, maintaining flexibility and professionalism
