Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room position requiring active CA licensure, Trauma Level I experience, and a minimum of 2-3 years of OR experience.

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Operating Room unit
  • \n
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 18:45-7:15 with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00
  • \n
  • Weekend work required
  • \n
  • May be required to cover one night shift within the contract as needed
  • \n
  • On-call required, with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts in a 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
  • \n
  • Float required between like units as well as to affiliate/sister hospitals nearby
  • \n
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • \n
  • OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
  • \n
  • Trauma Level I facility
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CA RN license required in hand
  • \n
  • BLS certification required
  • \n
  • Minimum 2-3 years of RN Operating Room experience required (5 years preferred)
  • \n
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • \n
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • \n
  • Trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho surgical experience required
  • \n
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • \n
  • Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
  • \n
  • Must willing to work 2 of the following 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • \n

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • \n
  • Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
  • \n
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • \n
  • RTO must be submitted and included at time of application
  • \n
  • Candidates may float between the contracted facility and nearby sister facilities as required
  • \n
  • Free parking available on-site
  • \n
  • Responsibilities include performing OR nursing duties across surgical specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, urology, gynecology, plastics, ENT, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures
  • \n
  • Experience with robotic surgical systems, cell saver, electrosurgical units, and other specialized OR equipment may be utilized
  • \n
  • Adherence to emergency management, fire safety, and infection control protocols required
