American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and night shift availability.
Details\n- \n
- Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting with a volume of over 300 births per month \n
- High-risk antepartum and labor & delivery patient population, including pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, multiple gestation, malpresentations, VBAC, and preterm labor \n
- Floating to the Postpartum unit required based on patient care needs \n
- 13-week contract \n
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:15 AM \n
- Epic EMR experience required \n
- \n
- Active WA RN license or compact license accepted in WA must be in hand at time of consideration \n
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NRP also required \n
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM \n
- Minimum 3 years of L&D experience in a unit with comparable volume and acuity required \n
- Prior travel nursing experience required \n
- Experience with Magnesium Sulfate (Magnesium Drips) administration required \n
- Experience circulating and scrubbing for C-sections required \n
- Experience with vaginal deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and high-risk deliveries required \n
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required \n
- Must not have been separated from the facility/system for less than 1 year to be considered \n

- Responsibilities include full L&D scope: labor management, fetal monitoring (external and internal), neonatal resuscitation, postpartum care, antepartum triage, and surgical assists (C-section, D&C, cervical cerclage, tubal ligation) \n
- Fetal monitoring duties include spiral electrode placement, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns \n
- Neonatal care responsibilities include APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, radiant warmer use, and newborn assessment \n
- Medication administration experience expected includes Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, prostaglandins, terbutaline, and insulin drips \n
- Pain management modalities include epidural anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, opioids, and PCA \n
- Required orientation modules are completed onsite and signed off by facility managers; average completion time is 8–12 hours \n
- No block scheduling — candidates must have a flexible schedule \n
- RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer per assignment and must be disclosed at the time of consideration; requests cannot be added or modified afterward \n
- Travel pairs are accepted \n
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as non-local travelers \n
- Charge nurse experience is preferred \n
