American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Inpatient position at an acute care hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 3 years of MS/Tele experience and the ability to work night shifts with PCU patient assignments.

- 13-week night shift contract on a 26-bed Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting \n
- 12-hour shifts (7p–7a), every other weekend required \n
- Patient population includes Medical/Surgical and PCU-level patients; nurses may be called upon to cover the PCU area within the department \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–5; CNAs are available on the unit (1:8 ratio) and assist with vitals, ADLs, I/Os, transfers, and transports \n
- RNs are responsible for performing AccuChecks \n
- Drip titration required on an occasional basis; common drips include insulin, amiodarone, and levophed, with multiple drip protocols in use \n
- Telemetry monitoring is required; unit uses Mindray cardiac monitors \n
- Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7, with a dedicated RT during the day and one RT in-house at night \n
- Charge nurses carry a lighter patient assignment; travelers are not typically asked to step into the charge role \n
- EMR: TruBridge Evident (also referenced as CPSI) \n
- No call or standby requirement \n
- No floating requirement for RNs \n
- \n
- Active NM or Compact RN license required \n
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required \n
- Minimum 3 years of MS/Tele experience required \n
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips \n
- Must be able to titrate drips \n
- PCU or step-down experience preferred \n
- LTAC experience is a plus \n
- Ability to maintain intubation is a plus \n
- BSN not required \n
- \n
- Online modules must be completed prior to working the floor; modules take approximately 20 hours to complete and will be assigned via email before the start of the assignment \n
- 1–2 days of on-unit orientation with a preceptor, depending on individual needs \n
- Travelers are expected to be flexible with scheduling to help fill gaps in the permanent staff schedule; the manager will attempt to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee block scheduling \n
- May be included in the holiday rotation \n
- Scrub color: Navy Blue \n
- The facility is a smaller community hospital with a broader scope of capabilities than expected, and is currently working toward Level IV trauma designation \n
