The Village Associate Teacher is responsible for supporting the lead teacher to plan and teach classes as assigned. Secondly, this role serves to provide often less experienced teachers with hands-on professional experience working with a mentor teacher.
In K-2 classrooms, each classroom has a lead teacher and an associate teacher in order to provide additional individualized, differentiated instruction for younger children. As children become more independent, one associate teacher is shared between both classrooms in the third through fifth grades.
