Summer 2026 Intern - Data Engineering - Full-time / Part-time

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00

As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work with Agency, Digital and Shared Foundations data to uncover insights that improve customer experience and operational efficiency. You will support customer and call center analytics by performing data-driven analysis in a collaborative, real-world environment. You will receive hands-on experience with customer analytics and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Use SQL and Python to extract and analyze customer and contact center data.
• Support the development and automation of data pipelines and reporting processes for customer and call center analytics.
• Collaborate with team members to interpret data trends, troubleshoot data issues, and present findings to improve results.

Requirements
• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2026 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
• Major/program must align with internship role.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Work Location:
This role may be considered for a Full-Time in Office or Hybrid work arrangement based on the selected candidate's location. Work locations for this role include Madison, WI; Boston, MA.
