Health and Wellness Store Manager

We are seeking a passionate and experienced General Manager to lead the operations of Hampton Natural Foods, a health and wellness retail location in the seacoast community of Hampton, NH. This role requires someone with strong retail management experience, a genuine interest in health and wellness, and the ability to inspire a team to deliver an exceptional customer experience. You’ll be responsible for achieving sales goals, maintaining store standards, managing inventory, and creating a welcoming space for health-conscious customers of the community. There will be ample opportunity to work with both local and national vendors to curate the assortment with locally-sourced crafted products and other popular health and wellness goods.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations:

• Manage the daily operations of the store, ensuring a smooth, clean, and well-organized shopping environment.
• Oversee opening/closing procedures, cash handling, POS system accuracy, and in-store merchandising.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and health and safety regulations, especially those related to food handling and wellness products.

Team Leadership:

• Recruit, train, and develop a knowledgeable, customer-focused team passionate about health and wellness and the products being sold in store.
• Schedule staff to meet business needs while controlling labor costs.
• Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to build a motivated, high-performing team.

Sales, Product, & Profitability:

• Drive revenue by implementing promotions, upselling, and maintaining high merchandising standards.
• Monitor and analyze sales trends to adjust product mix and promotional strategies accordingly to improve performance.
• Stay up to date on natural food trends, wellness practices, and product innovations.
• Monitor KPIs such as conversion rates, average transaction value, and shrinkage.

Customer Experience:

• Deliver outstanding customer service by providing personalized recommendations and product knowledge.
• Educate customers on the benefits of natural and organic products, supplements, and sustainable living.
• Address customer concerns and feedback in a professional and proactive manner.
• Responsible for maintaining and growing the customer loyalty program.

Inventory Management and Merchandising:

• In conjunction with the owner, assort the store with best-in-class products.
• Oversee inventory control and replenishment for food, supplements, personal care items, and wellness goods.
• Work with vendors and distributors to maintain proper stock levels and ensure quality and compliance.
• Minimize waste and shrinkage through effective stock rotation and inventory tracking.

Reporting:

• Analyze and report on sales performance, customer feedback, and operational metrics.
• Provide insights and improvement plans to ownership as required.

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of retail management experience (health food, wellness, or natural products preferred)
• Background in nutrition or healthcare strongly preferred
• Knowledge of nutritional supplements, natural remedies, or wellness
• A passion for holistic health, organic food, and sustainable living
• Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills
• Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory management tools
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Demonstrated ability to drive sales and manage financial performance
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred)
