Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for inpatient rehabilitation, requiring at least 1 year of acute care or rehab hospital experience and an active IL license.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting, primarily in the PT inpatient rehab unit
- Day shifts scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, five days a week with every third weekend required
- Floating throughout various hospital units and affiliate hospitals is required
- Patient populations include cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurologic, and orthopedic cases, with age-specific competencies from adolescents to older adults
- Cerner EMR system is used; prior Cerner experience is preferred
- Level II trauma center environment with teaching hospital exposure preferred
- Responsibilities include evaluation, assessment, development of care plans, and discharge planning for a diverse patient population
- Use of a variety of equipment and devices including gait belts, hospital beds, Hoyer lifts, prosthetics, and assistive mobility devices
- Training and orientation include virtual modules to be completed on the first day
- Scrub color is gray
- No call required
- Parking permit available at no cost to the traveler
- Every third weekend and coverage of at least two major holidays required
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off will be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
- License required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient rehab or acute care physical therapy experience required
- Active Illinois PT license required for consideration
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
- Experience with cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurology, and orthopedic patient populations required
- Proficiency in vital signs assessment, adaptive and assistive devices, and orthopedics/neurologic case management
- Experience with Cerner charting preferred
- Must be able to float within scope as needed
- Must be in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprinting
