Job Description:
Step into a pivotal player/coach role as a Control Systems Engineer, driving the digital transformation of this organization’s cutting-edge manufacturing environment. You will serve as the essential link between the shop floor and the enterprise, leveraging your expertise to maintain and strategically enhance core industrial systems, including Ignition SCADA, Canary Labs Historian, and MES functionality. Your critical mission will be to ensure reliable, high-quality operational data flows seamlessly into the Snowflake Data Lake environment, providing the foundation for strategic IoT reporting and next-level analytics for the entire organization.

Responsibilities:
  • SCADA Platform Expertise: Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the Ignition SCADA platform, including configuration of tags, alarms, screens, UDTs, and ensuring robust connectivity with PLCs and industrial devices (OPC UA, MQTT).
  • System Reliability & Security: Proactively ensure maximum system uptime, performance, and security across all critical industrial control and data acquisition operations.
  • Historian Administration: Administer the Canary Labs Historian, managing the configuration of new data points, retention policies, and supporting the historian's integration into reporting and analytics tools.
  • MES Configuration & Optimization: Configure, support, and evolve core MES functionality (including scheduling, OEE reporting, downtime tracking, and traceability) in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams.
  • Digital Workflow Development: Drive continuous improvement by designing and implementing digital workflows, run rules, alerting logic, and quality data capture (e.g., SPC charting) within the MES environment.
  • Data Lake Integration & Governance: Design and maintain reliable data pipelines from SCADA/Historian systems into the Snowflake Data Lake, ensuring data transformation, integrity, security, and comprehensive documentation in partnership with Data Engineering and IT.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, CS, or IS) required, along with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to deploy and support MES applications (e.g., Sepasoft, Oracle) and strong aptitude with industrial data historians (e.g., Canary Labs, PI).
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining reliable data flows, including integrating OT data from Ignition/Historians with cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake) using relevant APIs.
  • Solid knowledge of core industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus) and direct experience configuring PLCs, HMIs, and edge computing devices.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for building complex queries, views, and dashboards to support manufacturing analytics and reporting.
  • Hands-on understanding of shop floor operations, including familiarity with manufacturing KPIs (OEE, traceability, SPC) and root-cause tracking.
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills with the proven ability to translate operational requirements into technical system architecture while adhering to IT/OT cybersecurity best practices.

The base salary range for this position is $94,000 - $150,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
