Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
As a Staff Accountant, you will:
- Enter and process accounts payable invoices and payments.
- Manage accounts receivable, post cash receipts, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Perform daily data entry and maintain organized financial records.
- Assist with general ledger entries and journal postings.
- Support bank reconciliations and account reconciliations as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on reporting, month-end close, and ad hoc projects.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all accounting processes as a Staff Accountant.
Qualifications - Commensurate with Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with AP, AR, data entry, and invoice processing.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting software.
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable working fully onsite as a Staff Accountant.
Preferred:
- 4-8 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
- Experience with journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations.
- Prior exposure to month-end close and balance sheet analysis.
- CPA, CPA-eligible, or Big Four background is a plus.
- Critical thinker who can analyze data and identify process improvements as a Staff Accountant.
