Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Seattle, WA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of Level III or IV NICU experience and proficiency with advanced neonatal respiratory support equipment.

  • Level III and IV NICU setting with 77 beds and an average daily census of 50
  • \n
  • Cares for neonates as young as 23–24 weeks gestation
  • \n
  • Performs or assists with high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • \n
  • Skilled in CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, and conventional vents (no ECMO)
  • \n
  • Additional procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
  • \n
  • Patient ratio is 1:2
  • \n
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
  • \n
  • Block scheduling is available for candidates who prefer to work 3 or more shifts consecutively
  • \n
  • Epic EMR (required)
  • \n
  • Floating between campuses within the state is expected; rare float to Issaquah or Edmonds Special Care Nursery or Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery (infants only if floated to Peds)

Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • \n
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • \n
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience; Level III NICU experience for at least 3 years, or Level IV NICU experience for at least 2 years
  • \n
  • Proficiency with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • \n
  • Experience with IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, and central/implanted line care
  • \n
  • Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and emergency medications
  • \n
  • Experience with feeding methods (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
  • \n
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
  • \n
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • \n
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
  • \n
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • Travelers are not typically assigned to admitting babies, as a dedicated Admit Nurse handles that role
  • \n
  • Travelers who float to Pediatrics will only be assigned to infant patients
  • \n
  • Floating between all facilities within the state is expected; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
  • \n
  • Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
