Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned technology company supporting mission-critical government programs, is seeking a Senior Database Engineer with deep expertise in database design, performance optimization, and data management. In this role, you will play a key part in designing secure, scalable database environments that support enterprise-level applications and cloud initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Implementation: Architect and manage database systems aligned with evolving business and user requirements.
  
  
• Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement optimization strategies.
  
  
• Data Management: Develop and maintain schemas, tables, views, and data dictionaries; support data migration and transformation activities.
  
  
• Backup & Recovery: Design and execute robust backup and recovery solutions to safeguard against data loss or corruption.
  
  
• Collaboration: Partner with developers, system administrators, and analysts to ensure data consistency and support application development efforts.
  
  
• Security Compliance: Secure databases against unauthorized access, ensuring adherence to relevant cybersecurity and compliance standards.
  
  
• Documentation: Create and maintain clear technical documentation for database architecture, configurations, and performance metrics.
  
  

Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelors or Masters degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  
  
• Minimum of 16 years of relevant experience in database engineering or administration
  
  
• Strong experience with cloud databases, cross-domain solutions, and big data platforms
  
  
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with leading database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
  
  
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex data problems and system performance issues
  
  
• Ability to translate business requirements into efficient database designs and queries
  
  

Preferred Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree with 10+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, with recent experience in the last 2 years
  
  
• Alternatively, 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise database engineering roles
  
  
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures, data pipeline tools, and modern data storage frameworks
