Overview: Large marine truck frame for axle reactor design group. We own the design of the fabricated frame that goes on every single mining truck. Top Skills: 3D Modeling (Creo Or SolidWorks or equivalent) Knowledge of manufacturing process of metallic parts basic welding experience Metal Casting design is desired Education and Experience: Bachelors with 8 year of experience(mechanical engg, civil engg, Agricultural) Plus Masters with 5+ years of experience No cap on experience About this Role This design position provides the designer with exposure to both product development and manufacturing environments, providing value thru the support on the resolution of the day-to-day product manufacturing issues, new product design introductions into the manufacturing environment and continuous product improvement while learning of our process and products. - Exposure to the new designs or improvement of current for the (rigid frame) heavy fabrications on large mining trucks. This includes exposure to fabrication of subcomponents (brunt to shape, forming, machining and welding) and final product assembly. Typical task breakdown: - Review and understand requests (emails, phone calls, in-person and virtual meetings) from the internal and external customer and peers, tech requirements or needs. - Review of current design tasks and their status - Participate in design and/or manufacturing meetings for each of the projects this designer participates in, as the opportunity arises. - Understand and discuss project/product requirements, interact with Lead Designers and Tech Leaders, perform 3D modeling and basic FEA if/as needed during the development of the design concepts. - Drawing review and mark-ups for corrections as needed for current and new designs. Interaction with team: Both, virtual, on-site in person interactions with peers and customers - Team Structure: 1 Engineering Manager responsible for LMT Rigid Frames, Rear/Front Axles, Steering linkages, and specialized heavy-duty mining attachments. - 2 Team Leaders one for Productivity Class and one for Ultra class rigid frame mining trucks - 8 Lead designer US Based - 10 Support designers India based - 15+ contract design engineers both US and offshore Work environment: Office and shop floor work environment (PPE is required as per facility policy) Technical Skills 3D modeling Manufacturing of metallic parts Good Communication skills Additional Technical Skills – (Required) - CAD proficient (Creo, Solidworks or equivalent software) - Welding processes basic knowledge - Basic manufacturing processes of metallic parts (brunt to shape, forming, stamping) - Metal Casting design and manufacturing basic knowledge - Good communication (Read, Verbal, written) skills (Desired) - Creo Simulate, Ansys, Nastran or similar finite element - Tool design knowledge - Machining process knowledge Soft Skills (Required) - Receive/provide feedback and coaching - Engineering curiosity (Desired) - Ability to lead other team members - Able to investigate further/beyond the regular available resources/means
