- Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor safety compliance, construction progress, and quality workmanship.
- Interface with general contractor, design engineers, commissioning agents, and owner representatives to track readiness milestones and ensure alignment on field priorities.
MEP Execution Oversight:
- Review and manage MEP look-ahead schedules, manpower loading, and material deliveries to ensure critical path activities are supported.
- Oversee installation of mission-critical systems including backup generators, UPS systems, PDUs, chilled water and condenser systems, CRACs/CRAHs, and associated controls.
- Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to resolve installation conflicts and verify constructability in the field.
- Monitor MEP startup and commissioning activities; support integration of electrical and mechanical systems during testing phases.
Quality, Safety & Documentation:
- Enforce project-specific safety protocols and OSHA compliance within MEP scopes.
- Review and validate field installation against contract documents, submittals, and specifications.
- Support QA/QC efforts by tracking inspections, participating in pre-functional checklists, and leading MEP punchlist walks.
- Maintain daily reports, photo documentation, and field notes to track progress and identify issues.
Commissioning & Turnover:
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to support pre-functional testing, equipment startup, load bank testing, and integrated systems testing (IST).
- Ensure MEP systems are turned over with accurate as-builts, redlines, and O&M documentation.
- Drive resolution of commissioning punch items and facilitate smooth transition to owner operations teams.
Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of superintendent or field leadership experience in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale commercial MEP construction.
- Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in high-availability environments (UPS, switchgear, chillers, generators, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
- Experience managing MEP scopes on projects with aggressive schedules and complex commissioning requirements.
- Proficiency with construction technology tools including Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, field coordination, and problem-solving skills.
