Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 educational institution in Athens, AL is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position throughout the current school year (CSY). This role provides essential munication support to students, staff, and faculty to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning environment for individuals who use sign language.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, classmates, and other school staff.
• Support classroom activities, meetings, and school events by providing on-site interpreting services.
• Collaborate with educational staff to understand lesson content and prepare appropriate interpretation methods.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical standards related to interpreting and student privacy.
• Assist in the development of munication strategies tailored to student needs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within K-12 educational settings.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of deaf culture.
