Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

  • Mixed acuity unit with both ICU and step-down (SD) assignments
  • \n
  • Short-term acute care hospital setting within a large Level I Trauma, Academic Medical Center with 1,500+ staffed beds
  • \n
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • Some holiday coverage required
  • \n
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • \n
  • Floating to adult ICUs at other campuses is possible
  • \n
  • Charting system: Epic (required)
  • \n
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit work setting
  • \n
  • Parking available at $125/month
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending CT license accepted (allow 15–21 business days for issuance)
  • \n
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
  • \n
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • \n
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • \n
  • Travel experience required
  • \n
  • Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
  • \n
  • Proficient in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia management
  • \n
  • Must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
  • \n
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • \n
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • \n
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • \n
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration
  • \n
Additional Information\n

  • Provides critical care nursing to a mixed-acuity ICU and step-down patient population
  • \n
  • 13-week contract
  • \n
  • Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • \n
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • \n
  • RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
  • \n
  • Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
  • \n
  • COVID vaccine required; religious and medical exemptions are accepted
  • \n
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • \n
  • Non-billable orientation modules must be completed prior to start date and annually thereafter (approximately 4 hours for RNs)
