FHS - Safety, Security and Crossing Guard

Position Title: Safety Monitor
Location: Fayetteville High School
Reports To: Associate Principal, Safety Director

Position Summary:

Fayetteville High School is seeking a dependable and student-centered Safety Monitor to support campus safety through active supervision and daily safety procedures. This position includes staffing metal detectors, providing crosswalk safety support, monitoring the student parking lot, and assisting with overall building-level safety in collaboration with school administrators.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Metal Detector Support:
  
  
• Staff and operate walk-through metal detectors during morning entry periods.
  
  
• Provide a welcoming presence while maintaining vigilance and enforcing safety protocols.
  
  
• Assist with bag checks and follow procedures for prohibited items.
  
  
• Crossing Guard Duties (Bulldog Blvd.):
  
  
• Serve as a visible presence at the Bulldog Blvd. crosswalk before and after school.
  
  
• Ensure students, staff, and visitors cross safely, following traffic safety procedures.
  
  
• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic as needed to support student safety.
  
  
• Parking Lot Supervision:
  
  
• Monitor the student parking lot for safety, order, and proper vehicle registration.
  
  
• Issue parking violations and report any suspicious activity or vehicle concerns.
  
  
• Serve as a resource and visible presence during arrival and dismissal.
  
  
• Building Safety Collaboration:
  
  
• Support the FHS associate principal in implementing building-level safety protocols.
  
  
• Assist with lockdown drills, emergency preparedness procedures, and safety inspections.
  
  
• Report safety-related incidents, hazards, or concerns promptly.
  
  

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
  
  
• Previous experience in school safety, monitoring, or working with youth preferred.
  
  
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  
  
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, staff, and the public.
  
  
• Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  
  

Must pass a background check and district-required safety training.

Pay Range 15

Step 6-10 (Based on Experience)

8 hours/day

180 days/contracted year
