Activities Assistant CNA Certified

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in a nursing home setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with the elderly and a strong understanding of aging issues. This role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating various activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents, particularly those in memory care. We are looking for an individual who can think outside of the box and want to try new things outside of their comfort zone.

Duties

• Develop and implement engaging activity programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to address individual resident needs and preferences.
• Manage schedules for group activities, ensuring all residents have opportunities to participate.
• Facilitate social interactions among residents to promote community and connection.
• Organize special events and outings that encourage resident participation and enjoyment.
• Document resident participation in activities and report any changes in behavior or health to appropriate staff members.

Experience

• Previous experience in a nursing home or long-term care environment is preferred.
• Background in social work or counseling related to aging issues is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
• Experience in event planning or coordinating group activities is a plus.
• Familiarity with memory care practices is beneficial but not required.
• A genuine interest in caregiving and enhancing the lives of elderly individuals is crucial for success in this role.
