Pay: $2,266.20/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Description
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Albany, New York. The RN will provide comprehensive post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia after surgical and interventional procedures.
This role is ideal for nurses with strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a solid understanding of perioperative recovery processes. The RN must be proficient in Epic EMR and comfortable working in a fast-paced recovery environment focused on patient safety, comfort, and stabilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery.
- Monitor and document vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and level of consciousness.
- Administer IV medications and titrate drips as necessary for patient stability and comfort.
- Identify and respond promptly to post-anesthesia complications such as respiratory distress, hypotension, or delayed emergence.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other perioperative team members to ensure safe transitions of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic EMR system.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all facility protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding recovery expectations and discharge instructions.
- Float as needed to other perioperative or recovery-related units within the facility.
- Work every other weekend and participate in scheduled holiday rotations.
Qualifications
- Active New York RN license (required).
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU or Critical Care experience (required).
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (required); PALS preferred.
- Epic EMR experience required.
- Ability to assess and manage post-anesthesia complications effectively.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and patient advocacy skills.
- Must wear navy blue scrubs per facility dress code.
- Excellent teamwork and clinical judgment in a high-acuity perioperative environment.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
