Established law firm based in Youngstown, Ohio, serving clients in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, is seeking to hire an attorney willing to contribute to our criminal defense practice. The attorney will be practicing in the Federal Courts in Youngstown, Akron, and Cleveland, as well as state courts throughout the counties in northeast Ohio, including Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Portage, Stark, Geauga, Jefferson, and Belmont. Responsibilities
- Represent clients at criminal defense pre-trials and co-counsel at trials
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, pleadings, and briefs
- Support senior attorneys in case preparation and court proceedings
- Request and review personal injury documents such as medical records, medical billing statements, and prepare settlement demands
- Communicate and meet with clients regarding case progress, strategy, and outcomes
- Meet with inmates under protective safeguards
- Communicate and meet with witnesses and other parties involved in legal cases
- Collaborate with paralegals and other support staff
- Negotiate settlements
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Entry level to 2 years’ experience with a license to practice law in Ohio and/or Pennsylvania
- Detail-oriented with a client-first approach
- Accept and adopt firm’s goals, processes, procedures, and ethics
- Travel daily within Ohio for court appearances
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
