Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - NICU for a Level III NICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and a DC RN license, with ventilator and high-acuity neonatal care skills.

Details
  • Level III NICU in a hospital setting
  • Neonatal patient population ranging from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, primarily admitted from labor and delivery
  • High-acuity cases including extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
  • Services include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high-frequency oscillation (HFO), and nitric oxide inhalation therapy
  • 3x12-hour day shifts per week, 36 hours per week
  • 9-week contract
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA only), NRP, and STABLE
  • CPI certification required for this position
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in a US hospital required; 3+ years strongly preferred
  • Level III NICU experience required
  • Proficiency with ventilators, oscillators, pressors, and care of micro-preemies required
  • Active US SSN required for consideration
  • Date of birth required for consideration
  • Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the previous 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
Additional Information
  • Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery and attending all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
  • Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood and blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and parent teaching
  • Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • All certifications must be from the American Heart Association (AHA)
