Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable (AP) Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of the accounts payable function. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the AP team, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and implementing best practices for financial controls and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, a commitment to process improvement, self-motivated, and self-starter and able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the Accounts Payable team, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and workload management.
- Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and contractual terms.
- Maintain internal controls and compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Resolve complex vendor issues and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations related to accounts payable.
- Develop, implement, and document process improvements and automation strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Treasury, and other internal departments to streamline workflow and ensure accuracy.
- Prepare reports and analysis related to accounts payable activity for senior management.
- Assist with audits (internal and external) by providing required documentation and explanations.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable or accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and AP best practices.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
