Job Description
DeHay & Elliston, a nationally recognized litigation firm, seeks an experienced litigation attorney to join our East Bay Area office. This position requires a candidate who is an active member of the California State Bar with a minimum of two years of experience as a litigation attorney, with priority given to attorneys with experience in asbestos defense.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Civil litigation or toxic tort/asbestos defense experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational, time management, research, and analytical skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and proactively manage a large caseload.
- Ability and willingness to look at a problem from a new or different perspective and design a unique solution.
- Must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience in billing is required.
Job Duties:
- Working up a case from initial client contact to trial (under the guidance of a supervising Partner).
- Preparing and responding to discovery.
- Preparing and arguing motions, including dispositive motions.
- Taking percipient and expert depositions.
- Trial preparation and support.

The good faith, annualized salary range for this position is $145,000 to $175,000, depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law, such as education, training, and other responsibilities. The annual salary range listed is just one component of DeHay & Elliston’s total compensation and benefits package, which includes a discretionary bonus, paid leave, health, dental, and life & disability insurance, in addition to our 401 (k) plan.
