Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically skilled Grinding Wheel Mold Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining molds used in the manufacturing of grinding wheels. Your work ensures the molds and related components are properly prepared and maintained to meet high standards of quality, efficiency, and consistency in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble molds accurately according to production drawings, work instructions, and specifications for grinding wheel manufacturing.
  • Disassemble molds after forming or pressing operations, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage to both the mold and the product.
  • Clean, inspect, and prepare molds before and after each production cycle, including the application of mold release agents as required.
  • Inspect mold components for wear, buildup, or damage and report any issues to maintenance or supervision.
  • Install and adjust mold components such as spacers, inserts, and alignment pins.
  • Verify equipment and tooling setup to ensure all systems are operating correctly prior to production runs.
  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance staff, and quality inspectors to ensure molds meet dimensional and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of mold use, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support mold troubleshooting and perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in mold assembly/disassembly, mechanical work, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical tools and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and written work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and handle mold components up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, dust, and machinery).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with grinding wheel or abrasive product manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with resin or vitrified bond molding processes.
  • Basic understanding of mold maintenance and tooling setup.
