Creative Developer, Media Technology & Tools Design - Full-time

The Apple Services Media Technology & Tools Design Team is looking for a Creative Developer with a solid understanding of both web and native app development, with a keen aesthetic eye, a strong interest in Design and a proven track record. This role is focused on empowering creatives with amazing tools to automate repetitive tasks at international scale, and to create new deliverables never thought possible from different image and video sources for Apple Media Products (Apple TV App, Apple Music, App Store, Podcasts and Apple Books). **Description** As a Creative Developer, you will focus on many core areas. Among them, you will work between Human Interface Design, Content Design, and Engineering to drive design automation progress forward using prototyping and quick iteration through homemade tools or utilities needed to cross-functionally visualize the deliverables, gather feedback from stakeholders, iterate, and ultimately ship to customers. Additionally, you will build web and native macOS Apps to create efficiencies in production design processes, and automate artwork at a large scale. You’ll develop Photoshop and After Effects scripts, Sketch plugins and macOS services to cut down on repetitive work, and boost productivity of Editorial and Production Design Teams, and prototype solutions for artwork systems in the context of Apple Media Products Services UI. In addition to this you will maintain new and existing software, and distribute new releases as new versions of macOS, Photoshop, Sketch and other tools are released. You’ll work to find solutions to automate interactions between different web and native applications, and use internal content APIs to download, process and upload art to different systems. You’ll collaborate to create and maintain documentation for new and existing apps and tools, and be available to support questions from team members, and take feedback on bugs and enhancements. **Minimum Qualifications** + Some college-level education, or higher + Experience in at least one server side technology, such as NodeJS or Python. + Experience using modern web frameworks, such as React. + Experience using REST APIs with JSON, and a high-level understanding of how HTTP works. + Experience with Git and using GitHub to maintain well organized code repositories and releases. + Experience and proficiency working and automating art with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch and After Effects. + Comfort working together with many Design teams as well as Engineering team disciplines, often being the creative development glue between them. **Preferred Qualifications** + Approaches problems flexibly. + Innovates down to the details. + Communicates effectively. + Manages ambiguity & complexity. + Experience building native macOS apps using Swift. + Experience with shell scripting using Bash or ZSH, and AppleScript. + Experience using modern web frameworks, such as React + Proficient understanding of the latest ECMAScript standards. + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and design-focused environment, while learning new technologies. + Ability to design simple experiences for complex problems. + Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with others. + An affinity for Apple Media Products and digital content, in general.
