Job Description\nAmerican Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience, including inpatient care, for an assignment in a critical access hospital setting.
\n \n Responsibilities\n- Work in a Physical Therapy department within a critical access hospital serving a rural community
- Patient population includes inpatient, outpatient, rehab, swing bed, some pediatric (mostly 5+ years, sports injuries), and predominantly older adults and geriatric patients
- Frequent diagnoses include total joints, stable stroke, stable TBI, stable traumas, falls, and general weakness
- Average daily census is around 10 patients with 25 beds in the facility
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with no weekend or on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage includes one holiday per contract
- May split time between two locations approximately 35-40 minutes apart
- Cerner Oracle is used for inpatient documentation and Cederon for outpatient; Meditech used at Shelby until Fall 2025
- Primary responsibilities include evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for a diverse patient population across multiple care settings
- Team includes at least one other PT, a PTA, a front desk receptionist, and accessible management support
- Daily team huddles are conducted with providers and the nursing team
- Orientation includes a week on the unit and necessary facility onboarding
- Business casual dress code is required; jeans are permitted on Fridays
- Free parking is available on site
- Housing options are available near the hospital
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- Time off requests require manager approval
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree required
- Current BLS certification required
- Montana PT license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required, inpatient preferred though other experience considered
- Proficiency in gait training, mobility training, use of lift devices, and strength training
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
