Position Summary:
We are seeking an exemplary Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our patient-focused Internal Medicine practice. This full-time position offers a weekday schedule with dedicated time for patient-centered care. As an NP at our clinic, you will have the opportunity to serve a diverse patient population, eliminate health disparities, and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives in beautiful Columbia, North Carolina.
What Our Providers Do:
- Foster Team Collaboration: Build strong, collegial relationships with supervising MDs.
- Deliver Primary Care: Provide comprehensive primary care to our diverse patient population.
- Document Patient Histories: Accurately record patient medical histories for effective treatment.
- Conduct Thorough Exams: Perform initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations.
- Manage Medical Equipment: Set up and monitor medical equipment to ensure optimal patient care.
- Administer Diagnostic Tests: Order and administer diagnostic tests to uncover health issues.
- Communicate Results: Clearly communicate test results to patients and their families.
- Monitor Progress: Keep a close eye on patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
- Educate Patients: Instruct patients and their families on best practices for home care.
- Coordinate Referrals: Refer patients to specialists when necessary for advanced care.
- Collaborate on Treatments: Work with Physicians to prescribe and administer effective treatments.
- Provide After-Hours Support: Be available on call after hours to address urgent patient needs.
Qualifications:
- Licensed NP: Current Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina.
- Advanced Education: Master's or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Certified Expert: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- DEA Licensed: DEA License with the ability to prescribe medication.
- Medicare & Medicaid Enrolled: Enrolled with Medicare through PECOS (NPI number) and Medicaid through NCTRACKS (able to prescribe medication to Medicaid patients).
- Life-Saving Skills: CPR or BLS certified.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Medical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of current medical theory, regulations, and practices to provide and evaluate patient care.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Effective Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work seamlessly with all practice departments to ensure excellent patient care.
- Quality Control: Ability to maintain high standards of quality control.
- Calm Under Pressure: Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Community Insight: Strong understanding of the needs of rural and underserved communities.
- Tech Proficiency: Knowledge of Athena Health EHR is a plus but not required.
