Job Description
Job Summary:
The Substance Abuse program of the Kaibab Paiute Tribe was established in 1992. The primarypurpose of the program is to ensure the sobriety of tribal people. The program strives to elevatethe health status of the tribe and other Native Americans to the highest level possible and willattempt to lower the incidence and prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse among the people to thelevel at or below the general population.

Status: Full-Time/Benefits after 90 days

Salary: $30.00/DOE
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Substance Abuse Program scope of work is contracted thru Indian Health Services
- Will be responsible for substance abuse evaluations on adolescent and adult clients
- Will be responsible for outpatient treatment and residential treatment placements
- Follow up with aftercare and monitor during treatment
- Maintenance of caseload and provide direct services to clients, families, and community
- Provide a team atmosphere with Social Services, Mental Health, and Tribal Court/Probation
- Will coordinate with Mental Health in creation and management of treatment plans
- Will be responsible for alcohol and drug testing of clients
- Must maintain a good working relationship with medical and referral sources, including Government agencies such as Indian Health Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, etc.
- Facilitate educational classes, wellness activities and process groups as needed
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental and agency operations.
- Provide substance abuse counseling for all ages
Knowledge, Skills, and other Characteristics:
- Must possess knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse counseling techniques
- Must possess knowledge and innovation for coordination of community education and awareness activities
- Must possess knowledge and/or experience of the effects of the family disease of alcoholism or addiction
- Must have the ability to work with members of the Native American Community
- Must have the ability and creativity to organize workshops and activities.
- Must be community oriented and be a positive example to the tribal community
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Drivers License and be insurable
- Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards
- Must have a college degree in a related field
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random drug testing throughout employment.
- Licensed or certified is preferred
