Summary:
HUC/ CNA
Shifts: 12 hour night shifts, 1800 to 0630, every third weekend/holiday rotation, .9 FTE
Brief Description: Critical thinking skills and the ability to assist the nurse in caring for patients primarily in Med/Surg; floats to Emergency Department as ED Tech; assist in OB as needed. Supports hospital operations by maintaining the nursing station; gathering and providing information to professional staff, patients, and their families; providing clerical services. Also provides some direct patient care as directed by the Shift Supervisor and/or Staff Nurse.
Duties:
HUC: Acts as the central contact person for the nursing units (Med Surg, ED and OB); performs transcription, clerical, and reception duties. Critical thinking and computer skills required; working knowledge of office equipment including, but not limited to, fax machines, copy machines, printers, and computers. All other duties as assigned within the scope of HUC practice.
CNA: Assists the nurse to carry out the nursing process to deliver the highest quality nursing care. As a patient advocate, he/she coordinates the care of the patient through collaboration with the nursing team. The CNA provides daily patient cares, activities, and other tasks as delegated by the nursing staff. He/she monitors and Interacts frequently with all patient service departments; utilizes interdisciplinary input to plan, implement and evaluate care. All other duties as assigned within the scope of CNA practice.
Requirements:
- CNA with current Wisconsin Certification or the ability to obtain.
- BLS certified.
- Prefer 1 year Med/Surg or hospital experience.
- Exemplary telephone etiquette, good interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to interruptions and changing priorities.
- High level of attention to detail Medical terminology and keyboarding/word processing skills
