Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Mayfield, Kentucky 42066 (Western Kentucky nursing jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (65 beds)
• Employment Type: Travel RN assignment
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/3/2025 – End: 2/2/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (07:00–19:00), varied shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Possible float to similar medical/surgical units
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color; hoodies and non-approved wording not permitted)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or compact state
• BLS certification (required prior to start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Strong clinical skills and compassionate bedside manner

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with medical and surgical conditions (COPD, post-op joints, diabetes)
• Manage patient assignments up to 1:8 with Patient Care Assistant (PCA) support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document care and interventions in Meditech EHR
• Participate in unit orientation and comply with hospital policies and procedures
• Maintain professionalism and compassion in all patient interactions
