Mopec is currently searching for a 2nd shift Supervisor. This is an “onsite” position and will be based at our corporate office in Madison Heights MI.
Job Summary:
The 2nd Shift Supervisor will work as part of the Operations team. In this position, the Supervisor will provide direction to the organization, coordinate and monitor the company’s production and report the effectiveness of production numbers. The Supervisor works primarily with the operations department to coordinate the activities of the company resulting in improved business results. This position is responsible for maintaining efficiency, coordinating schedules, and ensuring a safe work environment. This position requires computer knowledge and manual dexterity. This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these instructions. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment. This is an on-site position and physical presence in the office is required.
Essential/Key Functions
- Maintain proper records of all forms of transactions relating to the company’s production
- Coordinate with managers on product quality
- Oversee all manufacturing activities, supervise shop floor personnel
- Schedule duties for shop personnel to appropriate jobs and equipment
- Facilitate smooth operation of manufacturing production and timely shipments
- Assist management in the coordination of plant operations consistent with cost, profit, quality, productivity, and on time delivery objectives
- Develop and coach hourly workforce
- Assists in implementation and enforcement of polices and procedures, including OSHA requirements and ISO requirements
- Assists in training production personnel in new or existing methods
- Maintain internal communications with other departments
- Manage 2nd shift operations team through talent development, performance reviews, and adherence to company policy
- Interact with various departments as needed.
- Manage activities needed to support the operations functions of the team.
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
- Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner
- Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed necessary by the company
- Other duties as assigned by management
Management Responsibilities: This position will manage a team of hourly associates and will be responsible for developing, assessing, and coaching the team. This position will also be responsible for performance reviews for hourly associates and participating in management responsibilities such as recruiting, disciplinary actions, and adherence to company policy. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the team is meeting production and efficiency standards.
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- College degree in business administration, engineering, or leadership or relevant experience
- 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Previous experience with ISO certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints
- Previous welding experience a plus
- Must be well organized and manage time well
- Must possess business acumen
- Must support mission and purpose of the company and be committed to professional and personal growth
- Must take initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team and interface with other departments.
- Ability to prioritize in the face of multiple tasks
