Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist for a travel assignment in a leading hospital facility. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in cardiovascular or open-heart surgery procedures, demonstrating proficiency in assisting surgeons and maintaining a sterile environment throughout complex cardiac cases.

This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to perform effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the cardiovascular operating room and ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and functioning properly.
• Assist the surgical team during open-heart, vascular, and thoracic procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures, ensuring efficiency and patient safety.
• Handle surgical specimens, maintain accurate counts of sponges, instruments, and sharps.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile technique in all surgical settings.
• Collaborate with circulating nurses and anesthesia providers to support optimal surgical outcomes.
• Participate in room turnover and equipment restocking between procedures.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Certification: CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) or CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) – Required
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS – Required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR/ECMO or open-heart surgery experience – Required
• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile field management, and cardiovascular anatomy.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
