Medical/Surgical RN Job Details

• Location: Athens, Tennessee 37303 (East Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Unit, Level 3 Trauma Center
• Employment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Date: November 17, 2025
• End Date: February 16, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), weekends included
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,680 - $1,800
• Patient Load: Up to 18 patients (expanding to 24)
• Electronic Health Record: Medhost

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Tennessee RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS certification (required prior to start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Ability to pass Tennessee Abuse Registry check prior to assignment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Critical care thinking preferred

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to adult and geriatric patients
• Manage patient ratios up to 6:1 in a busy medical/surgical unit
• Monitor and treat common diagnoses: pneumonia, CVA, CP, post-surgical recovery, electrolyte imbalances, DVT
• Utilize clinical equipment including bladder scanners and glucometers
• Document patient care in Medhost EHR system
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain professional appearance (scrub color: any)
