The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, detailing, and developing mechanical components and assemblies/subassemblies using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing, production, and safety teams to ensure functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop sheet metal components, machine guarding, tooling, and fixtures for manufacturing and automation systems.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings of parts and subassemblies using Inventor (preferred) or SolidWorks.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability, safety, and ergonomic standards.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T for accurate fit and function.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, maintenance, and safety) to refine and optimize designs.
  • Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials), design documentation, and revision control.
  • Support prototype builds, validation, and design modifications.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable safety standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, tooling design, and machine guarding.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PDM systems and engineering change management.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, CE, ISO) related to machine guarding.
  • Exposure to automation equipment or custom machinery design.
