Job Title: Desktop Support Technician I 

Location: 5345 State Highway 12 Norwich NY 13815

Duration: 3 months Contract to hire

Shift timings: M-F 9-530/6 (depending on lunch)

Pay rate: $25.00/hr on w2 without benefits.

  • Is this position remote or in person? in-person
  • What will the primary day-to-day responsibilities entail for this person? Deskside support
  • Repair, test, image and clean PC’s, laptop, monitors, printers, and other related hardware.
  • Maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot, software and computer peripherals. Ability to setup, configure and add all hardware. 
  • Experience with asset management. Install, move, add, and change.  Large IMAC events expected for client printer migration and PC refreshes.
  • Assure that all tickets requiring follow up work and/or calls receive appropriate attention. 
  • Comfortable with face-to-face interactions as will be required to provide technical support to end users in-person at the customer’s site.
  • Back up and burn end user data. 
  • Assist in developing and documenting improvements to current processes. Assist other coworkers in resolution of end users’ technical issues across the program. 
  • Assist Site Leader in the execution of established processes and escalations. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Experience working in enterprise environment.
  • Be physically able to lift up to 40lbs, bend, crawl, and lay in order to support customer computer systems.
  • Be able to be on feet and physically walk potentially a good portion of the day while visiting customers’ work area.

  • Dependability: both to get work done independently, and for attendance for availability to work scheduled hours. Trusted to work proactively is a key attribute given limited site IT Leadership.
  • Soft Skills is a must for this role. Candidate must have the ability to work with strong personalities. Managing stress while being able to deescalate tense users is a key attribute.
  • What will the work schedule be for this position? (M-F? 8-5? Overtime? Afterhours?) M-F 9-530/6 (depending on lunch) / OT on GE approval only / no afterhours Will there be OC (on call) or differentials? No
  • How many overall years of experience should this person have? 2 preferred but may take less with good IT schooling background.
  • Do they need any specific certifications or education? HS Diploma If contract to hire what is the conversion rate? 25.00 p/hr
  • How many miles per day will the contractor be driving? Only driving will be to the site

  • What issues have you had with this req in the past? Getting people to stay long-term. The current tech just left because of the hour-long commute daily.
