About the Role
We are seeking a Printer Operator to join our production team! This role is responsible for operating and maintaining large-format LED printers to produce high-quality graphics, signage, and display materials. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a good eye for color, and a passion for producing top-quality printed materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate large format LED printers (e.g., SwissQPrint, EFI) per job specifications.
- Load and prepare various media, including felt, fabric, paper, and rigid substrates.
- Perform visual inspections and color calibration to ensure print accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor print jobs and adjust for alignment, quality, and performance.
- Conduct regular maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment.
- Troubleshoot printer issues and coordinate technical support when needed.
- Inspect finished products for quality and compliance with client standards.
- Maintain accurate records of print jobs, materials, and equipment performance.
- Collaborate with design and finishing teams to ensure smooth production flow.
- Follow all safety and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in printing or graphics is a plus.
- 1–3 years of experience operating large-format printers (LED or UV systems preferred).
- Familiarity with RIP software (Fiery, Onyx, Caldera) and print production workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent color perception.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, proofs, and production schedules.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime or shift work when needed.
Work Environment
- Plant Environment: Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and printing materials such as ink and solvents. PPE required (safety glasses, ear protection, safety footwear, etc.).
- Office Environment: Use of standard office equipment such as computers and printers; minimal PPE required.
Travel
This role may require occasional travel, approximately 5% of the time. Travel may include attending sessions, conducting site visits, and collaborating with other print shop locations.
