Job Details:

\n

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
\n • Every-other-weekend requirement (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule); Nights: Friday/Saturday
\n • Work into the holiday rotation schedule
\n • Patient ratios of 1:6-7 (mostly 1:7 for both day and night shift)
\n • CNA support available with approximately 4-6 CNAs per shift at ratios of 1:10-12
\n • Schedules made out 6 weeks at a time with up to 6 requests off per 6-week schedule
\n • Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
\n • Charting system: Allscripts (Sunrise EMR)
\n • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; ACLS is a plus
\n • Navy blue scrub top and bottom required; navy scrub jackets permitted, no hoodies
\n • Care for post-operative patients including orthopedic, basic neuro (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions), and general post-ops (gallbladders, mastectomies, sleeve gastrectomies)
\n • Manage medical diagnoses including COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, and infections
\n • Hemodialysis patients on unit; experience with peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred
\n • Administer drips including Heparin, PCAs with MSO4, and occasional Ativan; no cardiac drips or continuous insulin
\n • Manage respiratory equipment including BiPAP (intermittent), CPAP, and High Flow
\n • Remote telemetry monitored on a different unit; RNs not required to read strips but may if experienced
\n • IV Team starts all IVs; RNs assess IV sites only
\n • 24/7 support available including hospitalist, intensivist, IV/PICC team, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy (Pyxis)
\n • May float to other MedSurg, MedSurg/Oncology units, or IMC for MedSurg overflow (no drips when floating)
\n • Orientation includes general hospital orientation plus 2 full shifts on the unit
\n • BSN not required
\n • Must reside outside of 50-mile radius; valid driver's license copy required at submission

This acute care facility operates a 52-bed Medical-Surgical unit with all private rooms, providing a high-quality environment for both patients and staff. The facility offers comprehensive 24/7 support services including hospitalist and intensivist coverage, a dedicated IV and PICC team, respiratory therapy, and on-site pharmacy services. The organization maintains a well-structured scheduling system and strong ancillary support to ensure excellent patient care across a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses.
