About Mason Private Locatin

Mason Private Locating is an underground utility locating company based out of the Midwest. Mason Private Locating specializes in private utility locating, ground penetrating radar (GPR), sub-surface utility engineering (SUE) services, robotic pipe inspections, and cross-bore mitigation. Our team is comprised of industry veterans with decades of underground utility experience. Mason Private Locating leverages the latest state-of-the-art equipment and technology in order to confirm that all underground private utilities are identified.


Position Overview
TheFleet & Asset Manageris responsible for the management, tracking, and upkeep of all company vehicles, equipment, and technology assets. This role plays a critical part in ensuring Mason Private Locatings field operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. From managing our growing fleet to maintaining our technology and field tools, this position ensures our teams have the resources and support they need to perform at their best every day.


Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of company vehicles from purchase to retirement.
  • Manage vehicle ordering, upfitting, registration, insurance, and assignment to employees.
  • Track and schedule all vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tires, inspections, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time logs of vehicle data, service history, mileage, and compliance records.
  • Coordinate installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of GPS and telematics units.
  • Ensure vehicles meet company standards for safety, cleanliness, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with dealerships, service vendors, and maintenance providers.
  • Analyze fleet usage and costs to identify opportunities for optimization and savings.


Fleet Safety, Compliance & DOT Program

  • Manage the companys DOT compliance program for applicable vehicles.
    • Ensure annual inspections, required maintenance, and driver qualification files are up-to-date.
    • Monitor driver compliance, including hours of service, licenses, training, and safety records.
  • Partner with Operations and Safety leadership to support the companys overall safety program.
  • Monitor and report on driver behavior using telematics/GPS data (speeding, harsh braking, idling, etc.).
  • Identify trends and provide coaching feedback to improve safety performance and reduce incidents.
  • Track and document vehicle-related incidents, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Support development of fleet-related training materials and communication for employees.


Technology & Asset Management

  • Manage all company technology assets including laptops, tablets, and cell phones.
  • Handle ordering, setup, distribution, and return of equipment for new and departing employees.
  • Maintain a comprehensive log of all assigned devices, serial numbers, and service records.
  • Oversee repairs, replacements, and software updates to ensure reliability and security.
  • Track all technician locating and safety equipment, ensuring maintenance and calibration schedules are met.
  • Support operational leadership in forecasting equipment needs based on workload and staffing.
  • Ensure all assets are properly documented and accounted for within the companys asset tracking system.


Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain a centralized system for all fleet and asset records.
  • Generate reports on asset utilization, maintenance schedules, and capital expenditures.
  • Create and enforce company policies for fleet use and asset accountability.
  • Partner with field and management teams to ensure all resources are deployed efficiently and responsibly.
