By contributing to Safari/WebKit releases, you'll play a key role in refining web standards and improving the browsing experience for a vast audience, while ensuring Apple’s products deliver seamless, cutting-edge interactions across this crucial ecosystem.
**Description**
As a Software QE Engineer on the Safari/WebKit team, you’ll help shape the quality of one of the most widely used browsers in the world. Your work will directly impact Safari/WebKit features across iOS, macOS, and visionOS.
In this role, you’ll validate software releases and new functionality with a special focus on areas tied to security and privacy, which means you’ll be working close to the framework layer where these core capabilities are built. You’ll design and maintain test environments, extend automation coverage, and ensure that new features meet the highest bar for reliability and protection of user data. Strong communication skills are essential for conveying product health across teams. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on new features and with the automation framework team to improve automated testing and processes, ultimately ensuring the delivery of a high-quality Safari/WebKit experience.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
+ Experience with Python, Swift, or other object-oriented programming languages.
+ Good understanding of development lifecycles, testing methodologies, QA processes, and browser security considerations.
+ Experience in developing comprehensive test plans and test cases, and automating them.
+ Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with a passion for quality.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Proven experience working on cross-functional projects, collaborating with various teams to achieve project objectives.
+ Skilled at debugging, troubleshooting, and critical thinking on bug prioritization.
+ Experience using Xcode to write, triage, and debug automation scripts, as well as test harness enhancements, primarily focused on UI applications.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, facilitating clear and effective communication across team members and departments.
+ Self-motivated and resourceful, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
+ Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
+ Comfortable working in fast-paced development environments with rapid release cycles and tight deadlines.
+ Open source contributions, knowledge of WebKit, and browser security (vulnerabilities, exploits, privacy protections).
