Job Description\nAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Intermediate Stepdown position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and current ACLS/BLS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n- Work in a 26-bed Telemetry Intermediate Stepdown unit within an acute care hospital
- Handles patients with conditions such as CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5
- Utilizes central telemetry monitoring and medications including Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitro
- No mechanical ventilation; Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow/Vapotherm are used
- Epic EMR system is used; previous Epic experience is preferred
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm-7:30am), three nights per week
- Required to work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- No on-call responsibilities
- Travelers are expected to float and will maintain patient ratios
- Every other holiday is required
- Hospitalist coverage available 7am-5pm, with APN and e-hospitalist coverage off-hours
- Nurse aides provide additional support with a tech ratio of 1:9
- 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy support; nursing does not mix medications
- Travelers receive one shift hospital orientation and two shifts of unit orientation (one day and one night)
- No specific scrub color required; nurses may wear their own scrubs
- COVID vaccination is not required for this assignment
- No radius rule applies, but local rates are used for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from AHA
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in telemetry or stepdown units
- Experience with Epic EMR system is preferred
- Ability to manage typical stepdown patient care for listed diagnoses
