Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined ER/Med Surg unit position requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, with rotating day/night 12-hour shifts and on-call responsibilities.

  • Work setting is an acute care hospital ER/Med Surg unit with 25 beds
  • \n
  • Patients include emergency and medical-surgical populations with a variety of acuity levels
  • \n
  • Med/Surg nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 3-4:1 depending on census and acuity; ER nurses are expected to function independently
  • \n
  • Charting is done in Epic; Sanford One Charge and Pyxis are also used in the unit
  • \n
  • Schedule is rotating day/night shifts on 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • \n
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required
  • \n
  • 3 on-call shifts are required over the course of the 13-week contract
  • \n
  • Floating between the ER and Med Surg units is required
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active RN license — SD or Compact license required
  • \n
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, TNCC (TNCC is preferred but listed as required — all must be active, no pending certifications accepted)
  • \n
  • PALS certification required
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • \n
  • At least 6 months of ER experience within the past year
  • \n
  • At least 6 months of Med/Surg experience within the past year
  • \n
  • Ability to function independently in an ER setting and manage up to 5 patients in a Med/Surg setting
  • \n
  • 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • \n
Additional Information\n

  • Responsibilities include providing nursing care across both the ER and Med Surg departments
  • \n
  • Orientation consists of Epic computer training, 1 day of ER training, and 1 day of Med Surg training
  • \n
  • Dress code requires navy scrubs with no logos; white may be worn underneath or as a lab coat
  • \n
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
  • \n
  • Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
  • \n
  • All staff are required to badge in and out at the facility
  • \n
