Job Description: Shop Supervisor
Department: Fleet Maintenance Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Manager of Fleet Maintenance
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for keeping our Techs safe in the shop & drivers safe and on the road. Supervise up to 10 employees, assign work to technicians based on skill level, needed by time, and work availability. Communicate with dispatch, parts department, and drivers. Input units need repairs to the shop planner based on DVIR’s and driver communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for overseeing maintenance of fleet trucks.
- Overseeing day to day operations of the diesel maintenance shop.
- Supervises, trains, and coordinates the work of mechanics and technicians.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior shop supervisor / technician experience preferred with all make and models (specifically Volvo and Freightliner) Must be self-driven with a positive attitude Must be able to provide directions to complete tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment. Volvo or Detroit certifications are a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a supervisor position that will oversee the weekday shop team.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer skills and abilities to operate and utilize current diagnostic tools. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Solid work history and quality craftsmanship. Must be motivated, dependable, and able to focus while having a willingness to successfully function and lead a team. A valid driver's license is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
You will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements such as, but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings. You will also need to maintain all safety certifications and standards necessary as set by management.
