Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6-months

Hourly Pay Rate: Hourly rate is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by JBC/WG.

Overview:
The Payroll Operations Specialist will support payroll processing and compliance activities across multiple pay groups. This role involves managing month-end close tasks, resolving tax issues, ensuring year-end accuracy, and providing technical expertise in Workday Payroll. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, have a deep understanding of payroll operations and multi-state taxation, and demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end close and reconciliation processes for all payroll groups.
  • Research, resolve, and process payroll tax inquiries and amendments through ADP.
  • Lead year-end activities to ensure all payroll actions are complete, compliant, and that accurate W-2 forms are delivered to employees.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Workday Payroll and related functional areas, including Time & Absence.
  • Participate in cross-functional project meetings, providing input on payroll-related agenda items and assessing the feasibility of proposed initiatives.
  • Perform detailed payroll reviews and audits for both semi-monthly and bi-weekly pay groups.
  • Support global payroll operations as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years of progressive experience in payroll operations and system optimization.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, compliance standards, and multi-state tax requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, evolving company environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Global payroll experience preferred.
