American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birth Center / Labor & Delivery position in Española, NM, requiring a NM or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Details- Works in the Women's Care unit of a hospital, covering antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum/newborn care
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730, three days per week (36 hours/week)
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Uses Epic EMR (training available on-site)
- Administers a broad range of obstetric medications including Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin
- Performs newborn care including stabilization, medication administration (Hep B, Vit K, erythromycin, antibiotics), phototherapy, hypoglycemia care, and care of opiate withdrawal and critically ill newborns
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of current L&D experience required
- ADN or ASN degree required
- Required certifications: BLS (through AHA, AHSI, or Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Must pass facility Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during the first week of assignment — candidates who do not pass will be dismissed
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Antepartum responsibilities include triage assessment for patients >20 weeks, use of obstetric triage acuity tools, fetal evaluation, and assessment for conditions such as PTL, preeclampsia, ROM, vaginal bleeding, and acute/critical conditions
- Intrapartum duties include labor assessment and care, fetal monitoring, medication administration, newborn stabilization, and preparation for vaginal or cesarean delivery
- Postpartum and newborn duties include assessment and care following vaginal and cesarean deliveries, newborn hearing screens, IV starts and care, lab draws, medication administration, circumcision assistance, and transport stabilization for critically ill newborns
- STABLE certification is preferred
- Former permanent employees of Presbyterian Health Services must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
