Job Description
Position Summary:
The FTZ Specialist / Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for supporting daily
operations within the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and serving as a key liaison between customers,
U.S. Customs, and internal teams. This role ensures compliance with all FTZ regulations and
company procedures while delivering exceptional customer service and operational accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
FTZ Operations Compliance:
Coordinate and monitor daily FTZ transactions including admissions, exports, inventory
adjustments, and status changes.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and FTZ
Board requirements.
Maintain and reconcile FTZ inventory through approved WMS/FTZ systems (e.g., MCL, SAP,
or equivalent).
Prepare and submit required CBP documentation (e.g., CBP Forms 214, 216, 7512) accurately
and on time.
Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized records and documentation.
Assist with FTZ activation changes, annual reports, and ongoing process improvements.
Customer Service Account Support:
Serve as the primary contact for assigned customers, providing prompt and professional
communication.
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, working closely with carriers, brokers, and
warehouse teams.
Manage customer requests, order status updates, and issue resolution with accuracy and
urgency.
Generate and distribute routine reports such as inventory balances, shipment summaries, and
compliance metrics.
Collaboration Continuous Improvement:
Partner with internal teams (Operations, IT, Compliance, Accounting) to streamline FTZ
processes and ensure accuracy.
Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Participate in training and cross-functional meetings to stay current with regulatory and
operational changes.
Qualifications:
Education Experience:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field).
2+ years of experience in Foreign Trade Zone operations, import/export compliance, or
logistics customer service.
Working knowledge of CBP regulations, FTZ procedures, and related documentation.
Skills Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-solving mindset with a commitment to compliance and customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in an activated FTZ environment.
Familiarity with CBP ACE and Automated Export System (AES).
Certification in customs compliance or logistics (e.g., NCBFAA, CSCMP) is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office and warehouse environment. Occasional travel or
extended hours may be required to support operational needs or audits.
