Position Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating engineering projects from concept through production. This role ensures technical requirements are met, timelines are achieved, and cross-functional collaboration drives successful program execution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in aerospace manufacturing, excellent project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across engineering, operations, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage engineering projects from design and development through qualification and production release.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for internal teams and external customers.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts among design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and process instructions.
• Ensure project deliverables comply with customer, regulatory, and company standards (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.).
• Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and product lifecycle documentation.
• Provide technical support during production ramp-up and problem-solving activities.
• Report project status, milestones, and technical issues to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
• 3–7 years of experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
• Proven experience managing technical projects from inception through completion.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX preferred).
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and specifications (AS9100, GD&T, etc.).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, composites, or metal forming).
• Experience with project management tools (Asana, MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative team player with leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• PMP certification or formal project management training.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Knowledge of FAA, DoD, or customer-specific aerospace requirements.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods while performing office and production floor duties.
• Must be able to occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Frequent use of hands, fingers, and arms to operate computers, office equipment, and inspection tools.
• Ability to visually inspect parts, drawings, and documents with close attention to detail.
• Must be able to work in both office and manufacturing environments, which may include exposure to moderate noise, machining equipment, and airborne particles.
