Pay Range Information:Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Job Description Summary:Research Assistant will support STEM education research activities under mentorship. The Research Assistant will provide essential support for research projects related to STEM education, teaching, learning, and policy, including data collection, literature reviews, data analysis, and preparation of research materials. This position will support the development and operations of a STEM Education Research Institute, the Journal of Computer Science Integration (JCSI), and the Race Education Analytics Learning (REAL) Lab. Under general supervision, the Research Assistant will assist with analyzing data, organizing research findings, maintaining knowledge of relevant scientific literature, and supporting research training activities.
Responsibilities:- Support data collection and management for STEM education research projects
- Assist with literature reviews and synthesis of research findings
- Maintain organized records of research activities and findings
- Prepare research materials and resources for projects
- Support documentation of research processes and protocols
- Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analysis using SPSS and NVivo
- Help prepare data visualizations and summaries
- Support statistical analysis under supervision
- Assist in coding qualitative data
- Maintain data integrity and organization
- Support preparation of research manuscripts and presentations
- Assist with editing and formatting research documents
- Help prepare materials for research dissemination
- Support development of research protocols and IRB materials
- Assist with grant proposal preparation and reporting
- Participate in research team meetings and activities
- Assist with coordination of research activities
- Support operations of the Journal of Computer Science Integration (JCSI)
- Assist with REAL Lab activities and projects
- Perform other duties as assigned related to STEM education research
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skill
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic understanding of research methods and data collection procedures
- Experience with or willingness to learn SPSS and NVivo software
- Background in statistics or data analysis
- Experience with academic writing and literature reviews
- Interest in STEM education research and equity in education
- Knowledge of educational research methods
- Experience working with K-12 or higher education populations
