Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Estimator is responsible for estimating and performing takeoffs for Fire Sprinkler Systems.

This role requires a solid understanding of all aspects of fire sprinkler and mechanical contracting, along with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel while representing the company in a professional manner.

The Estimator supports Project Managers and Sales teams by determining project costs, preparing bids, and developing cost data for management and planning purposes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for fire sprinkler systems.
• Review project data to determine material and labor requirements; prepare itemized cost lists.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, scheduling, and bidding purposes.
• Assist in vendor and subcontractor selection and evaluate cost effectiveness.
• Conduct special studies to establish standard labor hours and related cost data or identify cost reductions.
• Consult with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to develop accurate estimates and resolve discrepancies.
• Interface with internal departments to obtain necessary information and support for estimates.
• Maintain and manage a centralized cost estimating database to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Provide recommendations to improve cost estimating procedures and reduce discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or 4 years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints.
• Strong math aptitude and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general PC use.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Knowledge of the fire sprinkler industry.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience preparing estimates, preferably for sprinkler systems.
• CAD/BIM experience is a plus.

Job Details

• Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Pay: $20.00 – $45.00 per hour (based on experience)
• Work Location: In person – Carlisle / Mechanicsburg, PA
