Salary: $19-$21

Developmental Options is a private non-profit company serving the Pocatello area. This position works in the Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF) or sometimes referred to as a group home. Candidates work with children and adults who need support with activities of daily living such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, grooming, self-administration of medication, behavioral supports and accessing the community. This varies by home and client; some may need more support than others.


Work Schedule:This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Work hours may vary but will typically take place Monday-Friday.


Pay:$19.00 to $21.00 per hour, DOE.


Benefits:All employees accrue paid vacation and sick time after 6 months of employment. Other benefits are available (medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, short-term disability insurance) based on position. After 1 year of employment, qualified staff have the opportunity to participate in the 401k (retirement) contribution with Developmental Options matching up to 5%.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21, hold a valid driving license with a clean driving record/valid insurance.
  • Must be able to pass Health and Welfare Background check; drug screen and adhere to a drug free workplace
  • Complete provided training classes within 90 days of hire (training classes are paid)
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Must be able to lift or move 50 pounds
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program at an AMT (American Medical Technologists), AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) authorized school accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) AND have passed the Medical Assistant Certification Exam and maintain a current, valid certification
  • Able to lift and transfer a minimum of 50-lbs
  • CPR certified (preferred)
  • Prior experience in a group home or long-term care setting (preferred)


Responsibilities:

  • Performs treatments/procedures and administers medication prescribed by medical authority and within scope of roles and responsibilities
  • Handling phone calls from parents, medical providers, case workers, schools and others on a regular basis. Document all phone calls for files.
  • Assist medical and nursing staff by performing examinations (collecting vitals), histories, labs; following up on orders gives; set up medications, etc.
  • Follows infection control protocols to contain the spread of contagious diseases
  • Schedules and prepares for all levels of medical attention
  • Issues medical appointment schedule to members of the ICF/IID treatment team and direct care staff for appropriate planning. Communicates any changes in the schedule(s) accordingly.
  • Maintain the companys medical supply orders with vendors, organize supplies to keep a clean office space and distribute supplies to the ICFs/IID
  • Complete a summary of appointments completed for the month (Options hours), distribute to appropriate personnel
  • Complete vitals and weights of residents (monthly or weekly depending on order)
  • Prepare and distribute medication sheets and self-administration of medication programs to the ICFs/IID monthly
  • Track appointments on group home appointment sheet month, ensure all documents are receive from the physicians office post appointment
  • Deliver supplies to schools as needed
  • Complete medical director billing, submit for payment
  • Review MARS, PRN sheets for completeness after month has ended
  • Monitor documentation for medication errors/medication documentation errors; track these events.
